Okay I love holidays because they just make me more happy, especially Christmas. Christmas has such a joyous ambiance that is contagious. This is the season to give, and that’s where I think alot of people lose control.
We can give more than just gifts; we can give food, we can give our time, we can give our love, and we can give away items we no longer need. I know people may feel pressured to give over what they can afford but there are ways around buying every single gift you get.
Get creative!!! Who do you know that is talented in crafts, gift baskets, etc.? I have found myself to be more creative that I thought; which means I am able to personalize the gifts we give and make them more meaningful. Go to thrift stores and see what cool items they have, and enhance them so they will be more extravagant. For example, thrift stores have books so if you know an avid reader, get them a couple and make a cool gift basket.
Talk with some of your family members and find out who would like to join forces with you for gift buying, so you won’t have to pay the whole tab yourself. Don’t forget that you can join groups that are feeding the needy and giving toys away!
This is the season of giving and celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior. Even if you don’t believe in Him, you are still reaping the benefits!
Prayer for us:
Thank you Jesus for making us creative, ingenious women. Although the Christmas season is for giving, show us how to be more economical, give to others, and not be greedy. We understand that it’s better to give than to receive because You are the Giver of all givers and we desire to be more like you. Thank you Lord for answering our prayers and blessing us with a safe, fun, festive holiday!!! In Jesus’ name we pray Amen.
…the righteous gives and does not hold back.
He who is generous will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor.
He who gives to the poor will never want, but he who shuts his eyes will have many curses.
