Kids, Mommy

Should I apologize to my kids? Or should they get over it?

Hey loves,

I was thinking about something and it really disturbed me. Many parents do not acknowledge their children as people, with feelings who deserve respect. I can count the number of times I’ve seen parents unjustly punish a child, make a mistake, or hurt their feelings without saying “I apologize or I’m sorry”. Why wouldn’t you apologize to your kid? Maybe people feel as if it will diminish their position as a parent or authority figure.

On the contrary, I believe showing humility by apologizing and asking for forgiveness is strength. As parents and guardians, we want to display qualities that our children can model. Our job is to train them up to become better citizens who will enhance the quality of life for others.

Frederick Douglass said it best, ” It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men (women)!
