Every Wife has a Diary…Take a peek inside this one!!!

Hey lovebugs,

I was talking to one of my boos, who is a dynamic woman, wife, mother, and businesswoman. She’s such a great example of what a Proverbs 31 woman looks like, so of course, I had to glean some pearls of wisdom from her so that I can share them with y’all.

Here’s what she said…

[What do you love about motherhood? Give us some of your achievements, lessons, and encouraging words!]

The thing I love most about being a mother is the admiration and affection that my kids show me. It is extremely rewarding to see smiles on their little faces. I guess the greatest misconception would be that it is an easy job. It is not easy at all. And it’s very expensive. My greatest achievement as a mother is being able to provide for them. My children are very active in sports and the performing arts, and I am very fortunate to have the means to keep them involved in the activities they love. A lesson that I learned from being a mother is to make sure that I take the time to breathe. So often, I would get caught up in the hustle and bustle of transporting my kids from point A to point B or making sure that I am present at a performance or school meeting, that I forgot about myself. I have learned that it is ok to rest. The word of encouragement that I would give another mother is to be patient. Listen to your children. And share pearls of wisdom that will help them to grow. Do not compare yourself to the mom who seems to have it all together, because even she needs a break sometimes. You got this!

[What do you love about marriage? What is it like for you?]

I love being Mrs. Johnson. The thing I like most about being a wife is having a supportive husband who is also my best friend. I guess the thing that has changed the most from single to married life is our family dynamic. We went from a family of 3 to a family of 5 in the blink of an eye (you’ll get it in a minute). Also making life decisions such a big purchases together has also been a change. My husband has enhanced my life by loving bubbly, fun, driven, kind of quirky, Shanae who hates folding laundry. He didn’t try to change me or anything. He loves me just the way I am and it’s great not to feel like I have to be this make believe, cookie cutter, tv wife. I can just be me. The marriage advice that I would give another wife is to stay true to yourself. If you feel like you have to be fake around your husband, that’s an issue. But if you can be affectionate after finishing a sweaty gym session, you’ve got a keeper.

[I know that you have a business too. What is it?]

My business is called Wife Diaries, LLC. I founded it in July of 2011. It is an online sisterhood for wives to discuss the trials and triumphs of marriage. We have about 7,000 members. The biggest accomplishment for my business has been hosting annual retreats with Whine & Cheese, Inc. We just wrapped up our 3rd retreat and it was AMAZING!

I know you are enjoying this so far, now it’s time for the FUN,RANDOM Stuff :-)!

Where do you want to travel within the next year? We are already booked for our family vacation in the Dominican Republic, but I would also like to travel with my husband to Thailand. We shall see…

Tell us a funny story about being a mom, wife, or businesswoman. We like to laugh! A funny story about being a mother is that kids really do say the darnedest things. Our daughter asked us recently, “Why does Uncle Bama (POTUS) always walk around with social security?” She meant to say Secret Service, but she didn’t know. LOL. We thought that was cute and funny.

Thank you, Mrs. Johnson, for sharing your insight and for uniting with Mrs. Mommy to support, enrich, and empower other Mrs. Mommys.

We appreciate you xoxo!
